Mike Morton is stepping down after more than six years running Microsoft’s Business Central business, a stretch that began as General Manager in February 2020 and expanded into the VP role over Business Central and SMB in 2022. Before Dynamics, Morton spent close to two decades building some of Microsoft’s largest collaboration products, including a role creating the original SharePoint team site experience and years leading Office Online to more than 100 million monthly active users. That background now moves with him to Redmond, where he takes on a new role as VP of Product for Dynamics 365 Sales, while Aida Seifi Labrosse steps into the GM seat for Business Central.
One prominent Microsoft partner said Morton’s record of growing Business Central makes the move easy to read: Microsoft appears to be betting he can do for Dynamics 365 Sales what he did for Business Central, using the same playbook to push growth in a product line Microsoft clearly wants to compete harder in. For partners across both ERP and CRM, the pairing of a proven operator with a product Microsoft is investing in is worth tracking, since it usually signals where roadmap and resources head next.
