Acumatica announced on July 14 that they’ve acquired Vertrax, a provider of back-office ERP solutions built on the Acumatica xRP Platform.
Vertrax Energy, which is still listed on the Acumatica Marketplace as of July 14 as “Vertrax Back-Office ERP for Oil & Gas”, partnered with Acumatica back in 2017 to deliver an end-to-end cloud-based product for organizations running complex fuel and energy businesses.
We haven’t seen many examples of Acumatica acquiring partners, but it does seem like a timely industry to invest in, and acquiring a company with established IP is a quick way to capitalize on a growing market.
The announcement states that “Vertrax will operate as a business unit under the Vertrax brand,” and their team of 40+ will join and continue business as usual with respect to current and ongoing products, pricing, contracts, etc.. This is a fairly large addition relative to the current size of the company. It will be interesting to see how much these operations remain independent and how much are absorbed into shared services over time.
