CRM giant Salesforce is facing a flurry of 14 lawsuits filed in rapid succession this September after a series of data thefts targeting its customers.
While Salesforce maintains that the breaches were not due to vulnerabilities in its own technology but rather social engineering tactics that tricked users into granting access to malicious third-party apps, the plaintiffs are seeking class-action status and argue the company should have had better safeguards in place to detect and block such threats. The stolen data reportedly includes customer names, addresses, and in some cases, partial social security numbers, raising concerns about potential identity theft.
