AI Studio and UI Overhaul Headline Acumatica’s 2025 R2 Release

Acumatica’s 2025 R2 release officially becomes today – September 23, 2025, with a strong emphasis on usability upgrades, embedded AI tools, and industry-specific enhancements. A central feature is the rollout of their redesigned user interface, which is now available to all users. It includes configurable screen layouts, tabs, and fields tailored per user or team preferences. While the UI can be toggled off by users, this marks a big refresh in Acumatica’s visual design evolution.

“Every product release is important, but this one marks a leap forward in our mission to help businesses operate and grow with more confidence, adaptability, and intelligence than ever before. 2025 R2 celebrates our customers and the journey we’ve taken together to reimagine what ERP can achieve for growing businesses.” – Ali Jani, Acumatica’s Chief Product Officer

The spotlight feature is the new AI Studio, which was introduced at Summit 2025 and is now part of this release. Acumatica positions AI as a toolset, not a solution – AI Studio lets users define and automate processes using natural language prompts. According to Acumatica “ business users and partners can set up automated workflows by simply describing what they want to happen — just like talking to a colleague.”

This capability aims to streamline workflows like time entry and payroll, and includes early AI features such as anomaly detection. Notably, partners and users can also bring their own LLMs into the mix. While Acumatica teases a future AI automation library and out-of-the-box LLM in the 2026 R1 cycle, most current use cases appear to be custom-built by users or partners.

VP of Product Management Jeremy Larsen, who joined Acumatica in March 2024, is closely guiding developments in construction and professional services. Larsen brings over two decades of experience in construction tech, having held senior product roles at Viewpoint, Veriforce, and Sage CRE. Under his direction, Acumatica’s construction edition is shifting focus from back office to operations, adding a Project 360 Dashboard and document management enhancements. AI-assisted document handling is on the horizon for construction and, later, other industries.

“With 2025 R2, we’re delivering powerful usability, AI-first functionality, and deep industry innovation that empower every employee to innovate, collaborate, and anticipate what’s next.” -Miten Mehta, Acumatica’s Chief Engineering Officer

Other industry updates in 2025 R2 include order orchestration and AI-powered product recommendations for distribution, advanced scheduling and lot/serial traceability for manufacturing, and improved labor time tracking for professional services. All editions also gain vendor payment automation. CRM usability enhancements and deeper integrations for retail round out the feature list. Acumatica reports that over half of their user base remains current on updates, and they continue to support the two most recent prior versions.
