Acumatica’s BILL Strategic Partnership May Point to New Revenue and ISV Strategy

Acumatica has announced a strategic partnership with BILL, a well-known finance platform, to embed BILL’s accounts payable (AP) automation directly into the Acumatica Cloud ERP.

According to the press release, this new integration, available in Acumatica 2025 R2, gives U.S. customers a “one-stop solution” to manage bills, streamline payments, and optimize cash flow without leaving their ERP. The new feature, “Accounts Payable Automation, powered by BILL,” will allow businesses to connect seamlessly with vendors, make fast and secure payments, and tap into BILL’s extensive network, all from within Acumatica. The stated goal is to help businesses reduce manual processes and get better visibility into their finances.

For Acumatica, partnering may be smarter and cheaper than buying. It gets best-in-class technology without the high price tag or the acquired company’s founder walking away after a couple of years. This gives customers a presumably seamless way to manage and pay bills all in one place, right inside Acumatica.

But the real story here could be about the business model. Running in the cloud is expected now; the new frontier is stable, recurring revenue. This deal positions Acumatica to earn transaction fees on the payments flowing through the system—a win-win that scales as customers grow. Watch for these types of deals to become more prevalent across many more of the ERP players.
